Job Description

KPFF, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for its Des Moines, IA office.

Job Duties: Design new structures and buildings in accordance with current building codes and industry standards. Collaborate with a Structural Engineer to produce accurate and detailed structural drawings and calculations for a variety of projects. Conduct thorough checks on existing buildings and structures to ensure proposed additions and alterations meet code requirements. Coordinate with architects, clients, and other design consultants to incorporate their specific needs into the structural design. Utilize specialized software such as RISA 3D, Ram Steel Structural Analysis, Forte, Red-built, AutoCAD, and REVIT to analyze structures,

design wood and concrete elements and create framing plans and details. Requires domestic travel up to 10%. Telecommuting permitted 2 days/week.

Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.

License Requirement: Requires Engineer in Training (EIT), Engineering Intern (EI), or Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Experience Requirements:  One (1) year of experience in:

" Analyzing and designing complete building structural systems using various materials such as steel, cold formed steel, timber, masonry, and concrete.

" Utilizing structural analysis and design software such as RISA analysis software, Tekla analysis software, Anchor Designer software, and CFS Designer (Cold-Formed Steel Designer) for performing structural calculations and analyses.

" Structural building design codes including ACI 318 (Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete), ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures), International Building Code (IBC), AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) specifications, National Design Specification for Wood Construction (NDS), TMS (The Masonry Society) standards, and AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) specifications.

" Development and quality control of project deliverables, including drawings and calculation packages.

" Preparing site observation reports, reviewing shop drawing submittals, and responding to RFIs as part of the construction administration process.

" Collaborating with architects, contractors, and other design team members to solve problem, successfully deliver projects, and track project cost, budget, and deadlines.
