Alliant Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Drafting Technician I (may fill at a II level depending upon candidate's qualifications) in Cedar Rapids, IA! The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent AND one year technical experience in this field to include drafting experience. Supervision Received: Performs work under the direct supervision of a Team Lead or Manager.

Job Summary: Performs drafting work in support of Electrical Standards and Substation Engineering and other areas as requested. Responsible for accurate and timely completion of assignments using industry and company drafting standards.
Job Accountabilities:
Draft as built drawings according to mark ups. Draft accurate detailed drawings and maps from information provided by designers and engineers and others. Transfer information provided on vendor drawings according to Alliant standards and format. Ensure accurate placement of drawings within electronic file directory structure and/or document management system and corporate records system. Create original and as built drawings for substation foundation, electrical writing and schematics or steel structures under the guidance of other engineering personnel. Provide customized drawings and maps for various corporate departments or request. All other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
A minimum of one year technical experience, including drafting experience.
A minimum of six months CADD experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic methods and standards for the production of CADD drawings.
Ability to interpret and understand physical and electrical drawings.
Basic electric and construction knowledge.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred.
Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
